FAQ

General

What areas do you serve?

We’re based in Indianapolis and focus on central neighborhoods, including Downtown and nearby areas like Fountain Square, Fletcher Place, Garfield Park, Irvington, and surrounding districts. If you’re not sure whether you’re inside our service area, check out the Service Area page or reach out—if you’re close, we’ll confirm quickly.

What services do you offer?

We specialize in:

  • Dog walking

  • In-home pet sitting

  • Luxury cat care

We’re built for busy households that want consistent, detail-oriented care—especially cats (including shy cats and multi-cat homes).

Do you offer same-day or last-minute bookings?

Sometimes—we may be able to accommodate same-day or last-minute bookings depending on schedule capacity and whether you’re an established client. If you’re new, we require a Meet & Greet before we can confirm service.

Are you insured and bonded?

Yes, we are insured and bonded. We take professionalism seriously and operate with business-grade coverage and policies designed to protect pets, homes, and our team.

Are you the right fit for me?

We’re a great fit if you value:

  • High-detail care and thorough updates

  • Force-free handling

  • Clear standards and safety-first routines

  • Consistency (and a team that follows your instructions exactly)

If you’re looking for ultra-flexible “pop in whenever” coverage or minimum-care check-ins, we may not be the best match—and that’s okay.

Will I get to meet my sitter or dog walker?

You’ll meet with a manager at your Meet & Greet. We’ll learn your pet’s routine, personality, and any “please do / please don’t” details — then we’ll match your household with the best-fit team member.

Because we’re a team (not a solo sitter), you also get something important: built-in backup. If someone is sick, has an emergency, or gets stuck in traffic, your care doesn’t fall apart.

We do our best to keep your care consistent with the same primary sitter/walker whenever possible, but for longer trips or schedule coverage, we may rotate team members to ensure every visit is handled reliably and on time.

If it’s essential that you meet your assigned sitter ahead of time, we offer a 30-minute sitter introduction for $30. Just know: booking introductions for every possible backup can add up. If you truly need the exact same person every single visit, every single time, a solo sitter may be a better match — and we’d strongly recommend confirming they have a real backup plan in place.

Getting Started

Do I need to schedule a Meet & Greet?

Yes. For new clients, a Meet & Greet is required before we accept bookings. It allows us to confirm routines, access, safety needs, and the details that make care truly seamless. Click any of the Book a Meet & Greet buttons to schedule yours!

How do I book service?

Book your Meet & Greet first. After you’re approved, you’ll request visits through our scheduling system, Time To Pet, and we’ll confirm based on availability.

Do you require keyless entry?

We require reliable access every visit—either keyless entry or a key solution that ensures uninterrupted care. If you provide a key, it will be kept on your property in a lockbox provided and maintained by Frisky Business Pet Care.

Can I book services directly with my sitter?

All reservations must be made through Time To Pet. Reservations made outside of our system will not be considered valid, and you will not be covered by Frisky Business Pet Care’s insurance and bonding.

Dog Walking & Drop-In Visits

What does a typical dog walk include?

A standard dog walk includes:

  • Leash-up and safe exit/entry

  • A structured walk tailored to your dog (pace, distance, sniff time)

  • Fresh water check

  • Quick home reset (as needed)

  • A detailed visit report with photos

How long are visits?

We offer multiple visit lengths. Your visit length should match your pet’s routine and needs (puppies, seniors, meds, multi-pet homes, etc.).

Do you walk reactive dogs?

We can work with many dogs who are leash-reactive or easily overstimulated, depending on the dog and the environment. We prioritize safety and use calm, force-free handling.

For safety reasons, we’re not able to accept dogs with a bite history or severe reactivity at this time. Our services are designed for dogs we can handle safely with standard equipment in typical neighborhood settings.

If you’d like, we’re happy to recommend working with a qualified trainer and we can reassess after progress and a successful, trainer-guided introduction.

Will you take my dog to a dog park?

No. For safety and liability reasons, we do not take clients’ dogs to dog parks.

When I travel, how many visits are required?

For the health and safety of your pets, we require the following number of visits when you travel:

  • Cats: minimum 1 visit per day for each full day you’re gone

  • Dogs: minimum 3 visits per day for each full day you’re gone

No exceptions—this is a core safety standard.

What if my trip is extended unexpectedly?

No problem! Just let us know that your trip has been extended unexpectedly as soon as you can. We’ll continue your visits until you return, ensuring your pets and home are cared for without interruption.

Luxury Cat Care

What makes your cat care “luxury”?

Luxury cat care means routine-protected, wellness-aware, high-detail care—not just “food and litter.” We focus on:

  • Exact routine and preferences

  • Stress-aware handling (especially shy cats)

  • Multi-cat household dynamics

  • Thorough wellness observations

  • Clean, tidy “cat zones” after each visit

  • Clear, calm communication with photo documentation

Can you care for shy, hiding, or fearful cats?

Yes—caring for shy, hiding, or fearful cats is one of our specialties. We use quiet, patient, force-free techniques and never escalate pressure. We don’t take it personally — we take it professionally. We move slowly, keep voices low, and use gentle “trust-building” tactics (treats only if approved, sitting on the floor, letting them approach first). We do not force contact. If your cat is a dedicated hider, we’ll still complete care, confirm safety, and document what we observe.

How many cat visits do you recommend per day?

The number of visits we recommend per day for cats depends on your cat’s routine and health needs, but we do require daily visits when you’re out of town for safety and wellness.

Will you look for my cat if you don’t see them?

Yes. If we don’t see your cat, we will look for them discreetly and calmly. We do a safety check (favorite hide spots, usual rooms, under beds, closets if permitted) without turning your home into a loud search party. If we can’t visually confirm your cat, we’ll document steps taken and message you with what we found.

Can you care for senior cats?

Absolutely. Senior cats are one of the main reasons people hire us. We’re attentive to subtle changes (appetite, litter box output, mobility, hydration, grooming habits), and we’ll flag concerns early so you can act fast.

Can you handle multi-cat households?

Yes, we love multi-cat households — and we’re very attentive to dynamics. We monitor who’s eating, who’s not, litter box output patterns, and any tension signals. We’ll follow your household plan (separate feeding stations, microchip feeders, closed-door meals, etc.).

My cat hates meds. Will you still do it?

Some cats definitely dislike getting their medications. Can we still do it? Maybe — but only if we can administer medications safely and without forcing your cat into panic. We’ll talk through what’s been tried, what your vet recommends, and what your cat tolerates. Sometimes the right answer is a longer visit, a different technique, or partnering with your veterinarian for a plan that keeps everyone safe.

Medication & Special Care

Do you administer medications?

Yes. We administer medications and take this work seriously.

Are you force-free with medication?

Yes—we are 100% force-free with medication administration. We do not scruff, chase, pin, or “wrestle” pets into compliance. We use gentle, low-stress approaches (including calm holds or a burrito wrap only if the pet tolerates it) and keep interactions as positive as possible.

Trial visits may be required before you leave town, to ensure everyone is comfortable with the medication administration. This will be discussed further during onboarding.

Do medication visits require a longer appointment?

Often, yes, a longer visit is required. Medication visits are typically a minimum of 30 minutes, and longer may be needed based on the pet and the medication routine.

Do you need written instructions for meds?

Yes. Written medication instructions are required and should include dosage, method, timing, and any troubleshooting tips your vet provided.

Safety & Emergencies

What happens in an emergency?

If there’s an emergency, we will transport your pet to the closest appropriate emergency vet. You’ll complete a veterinary authorization form in advance, including payment information for veterinary services.

Do you require an emergency contact?

Yes. We ideally want a local emergency contact who can act as a backup caregiver if needed.
